About Me

Shawna Crystal

As of 2025, Shawna Crystal (she/her) is a strategic communications and monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) consultant, graphic designer, and researcher collaborating with various organizations. She is a passionate human rights advocate specializing in gender equality, gender-based violence, and international and domestic peace and security. 

Shawna earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, where she majored in international politics with a concentration in international laws, institutions, and ethics, and a minor in justice and peace studies. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in global security from King’s College London. Her academic research interests focus on the intersections of gender, disability, and conflict. 

In her personal life, Shawna is particularly passionate about disability justice, LGBTQIA+ rights, and learning languages. She runs a TikTok account with more than 100 million views to educate and raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. She is currently learning American Sign Language (ASL). ​​​​​​​
